U-10 Atletico Advance to Arlington Invitational Final

Alexandria Atletico White U-10 boys had a excellent showing in the Arlington Invitational Tournament, finishing runner-up in the Classic Division.  Atletico won their group with 2 wins and 1 loss and moved onto the Championship Final to face Chantilly which went undefeated in their group.  The game started off slow for Alexandria as the nerves of playing in a final was showing and Chantilly went up 2-0 quickly to start.  Atletico pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, but Chantilly again struck to make 3-1 going into the break.  All the boys on Atletico White: Oliver, Isiah, Alejandro, McLean, Asher, Matias, Joey, Levi, Saad, Jared, Evan, and Ethan took it upon themselves at halftime to show that their excellent play in the previous games was for not, and decided to show Chantilly that they could fight back!  Atletico got a goal back within 10 minutes to make it 3-2 and kept pressuring the Chantilly net to get the tying goal making it 3-3.  Each team would have their chances to end regulation and went to overtime where Chantilly got a breakaway and finished what ended up being the game winning goal in OT to win 4-3 in OT.  Both teams were exhausted as were all that watched the game realizing how great Atletico did to come back against all odds to almost win their first tournament as a team what for many of the boys was their first time playing for a championship.

Excellent work to all of the players on Atletico for working as a team the whole weekend, playing some excellent soccer, and sticking together when things looked rough to let all in their age group know that Atletico is a team to not be taken lightly in the future!
